Abstract: With the rapid advancement of computing power over the last two decades, Machine Learning (ML) has become ubiquitous for the development of effective solutions in many practical application areas. Starting from the traditional statistical tools to the sophisticated deep neural networks, machine learning covers a wide range of techniques and provides the core of artificial intelligence (AI). This special session solicits new and interesting research works in the area of machine learning, pattern recognition and data mining, integrated under the big umbrella of AI. Both theoretical contributions and interesting applications of machine learning in various fields will be entertained. The aim of this special session is to attract the researchers and practitioners in the field of AI and provide them a unified platform, to engage in research discussion, share their own views and learn from mutual exchanges of knowledge. Women researchers are particularly encouraged to submit their work. It is highly expected that one of the authors of the submitted paper will be a woman.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Machine learning tools
  • Statistical pattern recognition
  • Feature selection
  • Classification and Regression
  • Data mining
  • Text mining
  • Deep learning
  • Image processing
  • Biometrics
  • Applications of Machine learning in finance, healthcare, social media, medical image, bioinformatics etc.
